Change the World a Little Bit

If you've ever straightened a crumpled mat on the floor, let your yard grow and extra half-inch, or read a book to someone, you have made the world a better place through your actions. That's what activism is all about. Not yelling or chanting or hurting. But instead helping, nurturing and teaching.

Sometimes it is true that you have to get the world's attention before you can make a difference. When you gather with others and sing about peace, or build a community garden, or pray together, that strengthens your voice and helps you teach. You don't have to threaten anyone, and you don't have to ridicule anyone. You don't have to make them believe the same as you. We can all just get along if we all will only try.

I teach my children. I sing for peace. I grow flowers for the bees and the people on my street. I recycle what I can and try not to buy things that are designed to be thrown away. I sing for the Divine and I pray for the Earth. And I am hopeful.

I hope that I can inspire you to be an Activist in your own way, whether small or grand. Listen to the world around you, hear what it is asking of you. You will have to be very still and listen very closely. But if you let go of your own voice and keep and open mind, you will hear. And you will know what you can do for us all.

Be well, be happy and be wonderful!
